What is Hidden Gem?
A ready-made Durham guest guide for short-term landlords. We provide a personalised QR plaque and unique metal Hidden Gem card to keep in your house. Guests scan the plaque for local discounts, recommendations and your house information, which you can personalise with answers to the questions you are often asked. Our team continues to source new discounts for your guests.
How much does membership cost?
Membership is £9.99 per month, per property, with a 12-month commitment followed by rolling monthly membership. Your plaque and metal discount card are supplied once your first payment is confirmed.
How do guests claim a discount?
Most participating businesses accept the Hidden Gem card alone. The correct method is to show the card alongside the scanned guide, either open on your phone or as a screenshot. The guide displays “Currently staying”, the current date and the property name, which should match the card. Offers are for guests, not landlords.
What if a plaque or card is lost or stolen?
A replacement plaque costs £20 and a replacement card costs £5, paid separately. Request a replacement from Current properties in your landlord account. If your plaque is lost or stolen, select Refresh QR code to disable its previous link.
What happens when I refresh my QR code?
Refreshing your QR code cannot be undone. The previous plaque and saved guide link will no longer work. You must order a new plaque with the new QR code for £20. A warning appears before you confirm. Please display the replacement plaque when it arrives.
Can I personalise the guide?
Yes. Add your house information, such as Wi-Fi, parking, check-out and heating instructions, and personalise your gems and recommendations whenever you wish. The local discounts are already in place and our team keeps adding new offers.
